Only a couple of weeks ago we featured one of the graduates of our Brentwood Junior race league, well now it’s time to shine the light on a current member of the of the league, Conrad Collinson.
The 15 year old from Brentwood, Essex, has had another brilliant season and rounded it off in style by taking victory in the All Star Cup. The season ending event sees drivers fight to get through a number of heats before ultimately competing in the final for a shot at the trophy.
Collinson said, “Yes, it definitely puts a good end on the championship. I arrived at the track hoping to win and was setting fast lap times straight away. I won my first heat but the other drivers were keeping me honest the whole time.”
“The second heat was a great race for me,” boasted a clearly ecstatic Collinson. “I led from start to finish and opened up a huge lead.”
“In heat three I led the majority of the race but was passed in the last few laps by two fast drivers, Alfie Wratten and Jack Goldsmith.”
Jack Goldsmith was, as it turned out, a very fast driver, setting the fastest lap of the day, clocking up a 35.234.
After Collinson had put in three barnstorming performances throughout his heats, he had put himself in fifth place for the Super A final; the final that would decide the destination of the sought after All Star Cup.
“I got up to first place after just three laps and had Peter Knight and Fraser Brunton hounding me the whole race but managed to just about fend them off.”
Collinson has not only been impressing in the Junior Race League though. The teenager, who is intent on building a strong career in motorsport, has won multiple rounds of the Hoddesdon Kart Club Championship, has impressed in his first round of the Kent Cup and currently competes in the Sodi World Series Endurance races with fellow Race League members Matt Luff and Jack Goldsmith.
For winning the cup, Conrad won himself an X30 Karting test day as well as a day using a race simulator.
If you are interested in joining Conrad in the Brentwood league, just speak to one of our on-site instructors and they will keep an eye out on you while you whiz around the track. All you need to do is hit a qualifying lap time of around 37 seconds and you might just be invited to join!
