THE NEW FLEET IS HERE!
Brentwood Karting has taken delivery of a fleet of entirely new Senior Karts and who better to test them the Brentwood Karting Race League’s two time winner Jack Goldsmith.
Goldsmith was full of praise for the new karts, saying, “The karts are really easy to handle. The steering is much lighter than on the older karts and, even though it was wet this morning, you could get around in a decent time.”
The new karts combine the rear end of the Biz Le Mans kart and the NG1 front end. This makes the karts look very aggressive and Goldsmith was a fan of the redesigned karts.
“To look at they are quite something! For a first time driver they are probably quite intimidating. The revised, lighter steering system has massively improved the feel of the karts and allows drivers to take more liberties. It does lull you into a slight false sense of security but the kart will bite if you push too hard.”
After Jack had been out, and with the track still soaking wet, I took one out for a spin and things were exactly as the league’s champion had said they would be.
The karts would go nicely sideways around the corners and, if you did spin, you felt as though it was your mistake, as though you had asked the kart to do too much. You could never blame the kart for a mistake and it was very easy to drift the karts around the corners which can be a LOT of fun!
The new karts can reach speeds of up to 40mph with your bum an inch from the ground and are a great way for a driver to get a taste of what it is to be a racing driver.
Goldsmith, as with many of the league drivers, does not only race at Brentwood; the champion also doing extremely well in the Sodi World Series Endurance Cup alongside Matt Luff and All Star Cup winner Conrad Collinson.
