Another super competitive Sunday morning at Brentwood Karting’s Race League, with 2 weeks left in the championship this was always going to be an important event.
Championship leader Harley Carleton had the smile wiped from his face on arrival as he saw the name “Fraser Brunton” on the driver line up, this was not going to be an easy day!
The days surprise package was Beau Sullivan, he dominated both his heats and secured pole position for the A final, Not one to be left out, Harley also won both his heat leaving Fraser to collect 3rd and 2nd behind him.
Harry Nottage had a difficult start but kept up the pressure on the championship top 3 after winning the B final to secure himself a space on the back of the grid for the A final.
The Cadet A final was again an epic fight, fantastic to watch, unlike the Formula One “Snoozefest” Beau kept the early lead but the storm was brewing behind with all the A finalist crossing the line within a second of each other. Fraser passed Beau and instantly took the lead with Harley snapping at his heels as Beau fell from race leader to 6th place in one swoop!
Harry Nottage wasn’t keen on his 9th place starting position and began trading places, passing Vinny Lloyd and Yian Charalambous.
Race Leader Fraser Brunton’s stern defence resulted in 2nd place Harley Carleton having to use his full arsenal of race craft to hold his position, looking to the outside of Swimming Pool Bend each lap to try to pass.
Oliver Flashman kept a low profile until now but he was the first person to pass Harley and fill 2nd place. Harry Nottage kept his cool and followed Flash’s line, forcing Harley down to 4th.
Jack Williamson, Kye Kinch and Beau Sullivan were all having their own private battle in 6th, 7th and 8th.
Final Lap! The brilliant Fraser Brunton has 3 corners left as the chequered flag starts waving, nerves begin to ease, but…. Oliver Flashman has other ideas, and with 2 corners left, Flash passes Brunton to the cheers from the viewing area, crosses the line and collects the A final, having not lead a lap Oliver took the lead for 20 meters, the most important 20 meters and takes the race and the week win.
Driver Of The Day: Oliver Flashman.
Championship Top 3!
Harley Carleton: 276
Oliver Flashman: 242
Kye Kinch: 232
Another packed field for the Senior Championship this week with 29 drivers, the drivers with the most to win and lose are Jack Goldsmith and Adam Harding.
Jack is impressively still in the championship fight with Senior League rookie Adam Harding despite missing three weeks of racing
The heats resulted in four different winners from four different races. Chris Carleton, Ethan Brooks, Georgie Anker and an impressive win for IaroslavKovalev.
We had three different finals for the Seniors, Edward Boswell was pleased with his win in the C final about 3 months ahead of 2nd place.
Jack Goldsmith found himself in the B final, only a win would be good enough, Jack could breathe a sigh of relief as he did find himself at the back of the grid for the A final.
Georgie Anker headed the A Final with Iaroslav filling an impressive 2nd place.
As the lights turned green Ethan Brooks was the guy on the move, filling 2nd closely followed by Adam Harding, the front 3 soon found themselves pulling away from the rest of the pack as Iaroslav fell to a distance 6th.
Jack Goldsmith began his charge through the field with Adam Hardings position clearly on his mind, damage limitation mode engaged.
Georgie Anker kept his cool as the front three were separated by .2 as the races neared its end.
Harry Fleming, Jack Adams and Chris Carleton were engaged in their own private battle leaving the front three and the progressing Jack Goldsmith and Alfie Wratten to get comfortable in top 5 positions.
Georgie Anker crossed the file to collect 1st place leading from lights to flag, an impressive win and Georgie’s first week win in the Senior Championship. Ethan held onto 2nd, another great result for him with Adam Harding 3rd ahead of championship rival Jack Goldsmith, another 4pts in Adams favour today.
Georgie’s win today propels him into 3rd in the championship just 2pts of Jack and 19pts of the lead
