Spring always signals the best time of the year, better weather and the start of Motorsport season!
As usual the weather has under-delivered; making up for Mother Nature’s downfall has been the latter.
One driver here at Brentwood and Lakeside Karting we have been watching with interest is Danny Harrison.
Danny races in the BRSCC Fiesta Championship.
Round one of the 2018 season took place at Brands Hatch on March 25thand Danny wasn’t hanging about! He managed pole position and went onto win all three races.
Fresh from his Brands Hatch domination we caught up with Danny.
“The weekend was brilliant, I couldn’t ask for a better result, and it wouldn’t be possible to get one, that feels great.
I love Brands Hatch and have had some great results there before but also some poor results too,
so to win all three races at a track which has so many positives and not so positive memories for me is fantastic, it’s one of my favorite tracks and anyone who knows it will know how exciting Paddock Hill Bend is.”
“I really enjoy motorsport, when I was younger I would always be watching Formula 1.
My first experience of karting was at Brentwood Karting, I went there for a friend’s birthday and I loved it and quickly joined The Brentwood Karting Race League”
Whilst taking part in the Race League here at Brentwood Danny learnt quickly and soon became one of the faster drivers in the league. Danny even joining the 34 Club; one of only nine drivers to date to ever record a laptime in under 35 seconds.
“Lewis Hamilton was a huge inspiration of mine; I used to go karting at Brentwood and then went onto racing my own kart. If I wasn’t karting I’d be watching Lewis Hamilton on television.”
“After Brentwood raced in Formula Kart Stars and SuperOne, these were both very competitive and the challenge was huge. As much as I loved karting I really wanted to progress into cars”.
“As a family we looked at the possibilities and decided on the Fiesta Junior Championship. I had a great first year in that Championship and learnt a lot about car control and the difference between karts and cars. I am now in my second year of racing in the Fiesta (Senior) Championship. I am now in a great position and incredibly lucky to have a lot of support from my family.
Due to my results I now have several sponsors including Brisky Racing, Ridley Didley Racing and Bumps Away; they help massively with the high cost of motorsport. I am really looking forward to a strong year and am looking to win the championship especially after such a positive start at Brands Hatch, I think we really have a chance”.
“In the future I would love to be competing in the British Touring Car Championship. Everyone has dreams and mine is to not just be competing in the British Touring Car Championship but to win it. Alternatively, I’d love to become a works driver in a GT3 car”.
Danny is our one to watch for this season’s BRSCC Fiesta Championship, his next race is at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire on the 02nd and 03rd June. We’re all hoping for another great weekend.
Keep your eyes on Danny, our #OneToWatch
